Having been integral contributors to the global dance music industry for almost a decade, Belgian DJ duo Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike (DVLM) enthralled Mumbaikars with their eclectic sets on October 9, at Sunburn's 10th year anniversary celebrations. In a candid chat, DVLM talk about AR Rahman, Bollywood, Indian fans and food.

How has EDM changed with time?
Vegas: The jump of dance music from the club to radio, TV and national media is probably the biggest shift we've ever seen. It's incredible to see how it has grown in the last few years. Dance music is bigger than ever.

Mike: And whoever feels it hasn't evolved should see the recent videos from all the amazing festivals around the world. Notice the energy and passion of the crowds at each of those events. We don't really like the term ‘EDM'; it's a collective name for a lot of different electronic genres.

What is your take on Indian artistes?
Vegas: We haven't heard too many, but we've learnt that Arijit Singh and AR Rahman are huge. We'd love to work with Rahman.

Mike: Talking of music in India, I like the whole dance and music going on in your films. It's quite unique and layered.

Would you want to work on a Bollywood movie's soundtrack?
Vegas: We love Salman Khan and want to work with him more. We have watched some of his films and he has heard some of our music. So, we have this whole mutual admiration club going on there already.

You have visited India before. What do you like about the country?
Vegas: The warmth. It's incredible how Indians love diversity. They are so receptive to new sounds. It's amazing to be welcomed by such loving fans every year who never give up. We love Indian food. I often go to Indian food joints when I'm in Belgium. We've been touring India for so long that we are in love with the cuisine. We love naan, lassi, mud crab and tandoori food.
