Amrita Rao, the simple girl-next-door Poonam of Vivaah has gone. In her place is the stunning Amrita who's making testosterone levels rise as the cover girl for Maxim for the October issue.
The actress tells CS about her much-talked-about makeover and what being bold means to her:
1. Time for a change
Everyone's saying that Amrita has suddenly become very bold. But that's not true. I am what I am. People had this perception of me being a very simple girl and I wanted to break that. I just needed an opportunity to explore my bold side. The very thought of making it to the Maxim cover after being the typical girl-next-door for years gives me a sense of achievement.
2. Being bold means...u00a0
Boldness has got little to do with wearing skimpy clothes; it's more about your core qualities. Being bold means possessing inner strength, confidence and a sense of comfort in one's own skin. You could be dressed unassumingly, yet leave an impression.u00a0
3. No typecasting please
I am definitely not Vivaah's Poonam or Welcome to Sajjanpur's Kamala. As an actor, I find it very saddening when I see creative people typecasting artists. As an artist, you're meant to reinvent yourself with each role. How will you explore facets of your personality if people don't give you a chance to do so?u00a0
4. Bold beauties
Sushmita Sen is a bold lady. She truly lives life on her own terms and doesn't get bogged down by what people say or think about her. Even Sonia Gandhi has a strong personality. It's not easy to adapt to a foreign country, learn a foreign language, always wear a sari and fulfill your husband's dream!
