Comedian Vir Das goes on a rant about the Padmavati row

Actor and comedian Vir Das has gone a rant on Twitter blaming the government for their inability to control the fringe outfits from not allowing 'Padmavati' to release


Enough has been said and done about the 'Padmavati' controversy, but comedian and actor Vir Das has hit the nail on the head by going on a rant about it. Vir Das, in a series of tweets has slammed the government for its apathy towards the rising intolerance against 'Padmavati' and also letting the fringe outfits to openly place a bounty on Deepika Padukone.

He has also bashed the television channels for airing the footage inclusive of the multiple threats being carried out against the cast and makers of 'Padmavati'. The fringe outfits also wanted to chop-off Deepika Padukone's nose for playing the role of Queen 'Padmavati' and wanted to beat Sanjay Leela Bhansali also for allegedly 'distorting' history. Ranveer Singh was slammed for playing the Mughal king 'Allaudin Khilji' but the actor didn't seem to care for the flak he received. Here is Vir Das' rant:

Vir Das touched new heights of popularity earlier this year in the global stand-up circuit since his Netflix special, Abroad Understanding, was launched. Now, he has added another feather in his cap - he features in the No. 3 slot of Variety magazine's top-10 list of the world's most sought-after comics for 2017.
