Remember all those times when you screamed your guts out, bit your nails till there weren't any left and shut your eyes through a good chunk of the film. But in spite of all that, we bet you came out of the theatre knowing that you had a good time. Horror as a film genre has always been a hot favourite with moviegoers.
WHO: Shreyas Talpade and Sada
WHAT: In a scene from Click
And why not? A film that gets your adrenaline pumping definitely shouldn't be missed. Eery sound tracks, sinister shadows, harrowing images and piercing screams make a horror film a must see. Bollywood too has many fans of this genre. And almost every horror flick made has turned out to be a hit. However, Indian cinema seems to make very few films based on a theme that is sure to pull in crowds. A case in point was RGV's Agyaat in 2009 and Vikram Bhatt's 1920 in 2008. These films certainly had us gripped and asking for more (horror films).
But all your complaints will be put to rest this Friday. Director Sangeeth Sivan is all set to freak his audiences out with Click. The year's bone-chilling mega horror film portrays a young photographer and his girlfriend. He takes beautiful pictures and yet when they're printed, they hide a secret that is so dark and menacing that he can't even share it with his girlfriend. If revealed, the secret threatens to ruin not only his life, but that of his family, friends and loved ones as well. Worse still, it comes from a world that's different from ours.
Says Sangeeth, "Every film has a USP and Click's USP is its horror. But it is not the typical blood and gore or nimbu and green chilly factor that evokes fear. In fact, Click is a romantic story that's contemporary with twists."
So make sure you visit a theatre near you this weekend, as Pritish Nandy Communications and RNA Play Entertainment bring you the scariest, darkest, most blood-curdling film of the year. Here's your chance to find out what happens when the unknown world looks you straight in the eye. And don't forget to take your partner along.
"After all, a horror film is best enjoyed by young couples. It gives a chance for girls to clutch their boyfriends' hands and for the boys to hug their girlfriends closer," says Sangeeth on a lighter note.
