There might be stories about Akon not celebrating his birthday (April 16) in Mumbai with his B-town buddies, as originally planned, but the R&B singer is super excited about ringing in the new year of his life in a special way.

For the first time ever, he's going to be crooning his birthday away as he kickstarts the Indian tour with a gig in Gurgaon tomorrow and then in Bangalore on Sunday. He tells CS why his 38th birthday is going to be a memorable one:
Fan-tastic India
I really wanted to show my appreciation for my fans in the North and the South of India, so we decided to include Bangalore and New Delhi into the tour schedule. I wish I had time to perform all over the country, but I guess that's rather unrealistic. I couldn't think of a better birthday present to myself than to be with my amazing fans in India. I'm here to enjoy myself and I am very excited to be in the country.u00a0
Hindi hai hum
For my new album, Stadium, I have sung a song in Hindi called Chumuk Chullo. Singing it was very challenging, but the number has turned out to be lovely. The album has many new songs inspired by all my travels. It has a global beat, and I'm sure my Indian fans are going to be able to relate to it. India has so many great artists. I have already collaborated on several tracks with Aadesh Shrivastava. I'm also a big fan of Sunidhi Chauhan and Sonu Nigam. They're fantastic. India is so rich in talent.
Tour guide
I would love to explore India and all the amazing sites and interesting people, but I think that dream will have to wait. I have to get back right after the show to start my North America tour with Usher on April 27.
