Emraan Hashmi, Mr X
It was a lacklustre weekend at the box office with all the releases struggling to find an audience. Vikram Bhatt's thriller 'Mr. X' (Read the review of 'Mr. X') that features Emraan Hashmi in the lead failed to get an encouraging opening and grossed Rs 13 crore in the first three days. On the other hand, Kalki Koechlin-starrer 'Margarita With A Straw', which has won critical acclaim, raked in Rs 1.25 crore. (Read the review of 'Margarita With A Straw')

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh says, "Post 'Jannat 2' (2012), not a single film of Emraan's has got a good opening at the box office. The collections for 'Mr. X' are well below expectations."
Exhibitors, too, admit that last weekend's numbers were dismal. "Sunny Leone's 'Ek Paheli Leela', which released the previous week, managed to find takers over the weekend and its collection now stands close to Rs 20 crore," says exhibitor Rajesh Thadani.
Hollywood films have been of much help to exhibitors, suggests Vishal Anand of Fun Cinemas. "We had the best weekend when 'Furious 7' released and the action flick continues to pull crowds. Last weekend, it did a business of Rs 3.75 crore and has crossed the Rs 90 crore-mark," he adds.
