While other films have failed to click, 'Hawaa Hawaai' has done well so far collecting around Rs 4 crore

Out of the six films that released last Friday, the only one that has done well so far is Amole Gupte's 'Hawaa Hawaai'. The film has collected around Rs 4 crore while other films such as Janki Vishwanathan's 'Yeh Hai Bakrapur', 'Koyelaanchal', 'Mastram' and 'Manjunath' had discouraging collections.

Trade analyst Komal Nahata says, "As far as the collections go, 'Hawaa Hawaai' proved to be the best among them all. A heartwarming tale of grit and determination, it had a strong emotional connect. This is why its collections picked up after a slow start. Second was 'Mastram'; it intrigued audience with its content. People expected more voyeuristic pleasure, but there wasn't much of it in the film. All other films performed poorly at the BO."

However, exhibitors point out that films such as 'Spiderman' and '2 States' have been the saving grace. Exhibitor Rajesh Thadani says, "'Hawaa Hawaai' has done better than the others, but we will have to wait and see how it performs this week. 'Mastram' collected Rs 1.75 crore and Koyelaanchal raked in Rs 1.5 crore. On the other hand, 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2', has collected about Rs 46crore in 10 days."

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh feels that multiple releases have never helped any film. He says, "It is not smart to have so many films releasing on the same day. Last Friday saw six film releases and the audience is just not interested in watching so many films."
