Weddings in India are mostly a larger-than-life affair. And when it is a celebrity, opulence and grandeur are but expected in every bit of the nuptials - from trousseau and food spread to themes and the venue.

However, considering the hype and fanfare surrounding their D-day and prying eyes of the paparazzi, several film celebs have been opting for low-key ceremonies at exotic locations, better known as a destination wedding.
The latest example is Shahid Kapoor, who will reportedly get hitched to Delhi college student Mira Rajput in Greece on June 10. Earlier, there was speculation that the âbetrothed' couple will exchange wedding vows in the scenic island of Bali.

Marooned on an island

Rustic retreat
Rani Mukerji wed YRF chief Aditya Chopra on April 21 last year in the romantic countryside of Italy. It was a complete family affair with only a handful of special friends, including Karan Johar, present on the occasion. Far away from prying eyes of the paparazzi, Rani shared the news of her foreign-themed "fairy tale" wedding through a media statement the very next day.

King-sized nuptials
Raveena Tandon got married to film distributor Anil Thadani at Udaipur's Jag Mandir Palace, which is located on an island in the scenic Pichchola Lake. The Bollywood influence at this wedding just could not be missed, as the palace was decorated like a movie set and the couple's closest friends from the industry flew down to the city to be part of their D-day.

Big day on the beach
Lara Dutta and Mahesh Bhupathi said âI do' in Victorian style at the erstwhile Portuguese fort of Aguada, Goa, on February 16, 2011. They had a specially decorated shamiana set up on the premises of a five-star hotel near the Candolim beach on the 16th century fort. The venue overlooked the Indian Ocean, offering a breathtaking backdrop to the knotty affair.

Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra exchanged wedding vows on November 22, 2009 at a farmhouse in Khandala owned by the actress' friend.
