Sonakshi Sinha is said to be perfecting her comic timing for her upcoming film with Ajay Devgn. We list actors who have made successful transition to comedy

Akshay Kumar

Abhishek Bachchan
Right from his debut film Refugee, Junior Bachchan has proven his acting skills. Be it family flicks like Om Jai Jagdish or power-packed performances in Guru, Sarkar 1 and 2, and Dum Maro Dum, he has always delivered the goods. But it was his comic timing in films -- from the con act in Bunty Aur Babli, the gay impersonation with John Abraham in Dostana and the dual acts in Bol Bachchan --- that has proven his hold over comedy.

Funsters all:
Paresh Rawal - Be it bad guy acts or serious humour, he shone in Hera Pheri, Chachi 420 and Ready.
Anil Kapoor - His is a class act in films like Tezaab, Pukar to No Entry and Welcome.
Sanjay Dutt's - His comic timing was a treat in the Munnabhai series

Shahid Kapoor
What helps Shahid Kapoor do comedy is that he has no fixed image. He started with light, frothy romances like Ishq Vishq, Chup Chup ke, Vivah and Jab We Met. And then he did thrillers like Fida and Kaminey. What came as a surprise was the actor's comic timing in films like Phata Poster Nikla Hero and the recent hit R...Rajkumar. He has been compared to none other than Govinda for his flair for comedy. Need we say more?

Akshay Kumar
He started off with action thrillers - Saugandh, Khiladi, Khiladiyon ka khiladi, etc. There was the odd deviation for love stories in Dhadkan, Dil To Paagal Hai and Yeh Dillagi. It was Priyadarshan's Hera Pheri that set the ball rolling for comedy. It was followed by other roles-the naïve Sardarji in Singh is Kinng, the whacky psychiatrist in Bhool Bhulaiyaa and the desperate-to-get-a-wife in Welcome. His comic films have rarely gone wrong (except for the over-the-top Chandni Chowki to China and Tees Maar Khan). No wonder, he's one of the few names who have made a mark in action as well as comic films.

Ajay Devgn
His debut film, Phool Aur Kaante, and subsequent films like Jigar, Platform and Vijaypath established Ajay Devgn as the quintessential action hero. Slowly and steadily, his transformation to dramas like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha and The Legend of Bhagat Singh was also well-received by critics and the audiences alike. And now, the actor has also proved his knack for comedy with films like the Golmaal series, Bol Bachchan and Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge?. In his blockbuster, Singham too, he struck a fine balance between comedy and action.

Salman Khan
His chocolate boy looks made Salman Khan an ideal choice for love stories and family dramas like Maine Pyar Kiya, Baaghi, Love and Hum Aapke Hain Koun to name a few. There were occasional spurts of comic reliefs in the cult film Andaz Apna Apna and Judwaa. But the success of Wanted, Ready, Dabangg 1 and 2 have earned him the title of ‘comedy for the masses'. Double-meaning dialogues, casual remarks and his uninhibited antics have the masses all enthralled.
