Anjana Sukhani, who was recently in Barcelona, Spain for a month-long shoot of her new film, also spent quite some time sight-seeing in the city and nearby areas. She recounts her trip to CS:
Perfect weather
I visited Spain in last week of May, and the weather was quite pleasant with some showers. It was quite sunny and breezy, perfect for long walks and small cycling excursions. I would recommend carrying minimum cash with you, while roaming in local areas, as there are many pickpockets.
Visual treat
Barcelona is known for its architectural masterpieces, the foremost being the famous church 'Templo Expiatorio de la Sagrada Familia' or the Church of Sacred family built by Gaudi. The image of that church will be forever etched in my mind. I also liked the statue of Columbus in Barcelona. The La Rambla street is a very beautiful one with its ancient buildings and malls.
We also went to Ibiza, which is one of the party destinations of the world. Ibiza has over 100 beaches and I have always been a beach person, so it was like heaven for me. Since my brother is settled there, I have promised myself that I will be exploring Spain in much more detail soon.
Lost and found
One day, I went out for shopping and could not find my way back to the hotel. Thankfully, I can speak a bit of Spanish. So after a little panicking, I spoke to some locals and they actually understood what I was trying to say. It was very kind of them to help me get back to my hotel.
From Spain with love
I bought a lot of clothes and accessories right from dresses, T shirts, shoes and bags! The place has all the high end brands of the world as well as some amazing non branded stuff. I also bought some souvenirs for friends back home. My brother and I also explored the nightlife in Barcelona. The club vibe out there is infectious.
Tucking in
I loved the famous Spanish Paella in Barcelona as well as the Mediterranean salads with their bit of extra virgin olive oil. My best meal was on the cruise liner from Barcelona to Ibiza. They laid out a table by the deck and the ocean breeze blowing in my hair as I ate. Amazing!
