Suniel Shetty's father, Verappa Shetty (93), breathed his last on late Tuesday night.
Daughter Athiya Shetty, who left for London on Saturday to shoot for Mubarakan with Anil Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor, took the first flight back home on receiving the news.
The funeral will be held today as Athiya lands in Mumbai.
