Uttarakhand town that may be displaced due to Pancheshwar dam finds a place in Dibakar's next

Besides marking the on-screen reunion of Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra five years after they worked on Ishaqzaade, Dibakar Banerjee's next has another milestone to its credit. Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar is the only Bollywood film to be shot at Jhulaghat, a town over 30 kilometers away from Pithoragarh, which is in news these days over the Pancheshwar dam construction.

Having wrapped up their first schedule in Delhi, Kapoor and Chopra are currently shooting in the Uttarakhand town. A source informs, "With the ongoing plan to build the Pancheshwar dam, it will change the topography of this town. Many environmentalists have opposed the construction as it will leave Jhulaghat and other towns submerged. So in a way, this film will be a visual record of this quaint place."

Shooting the drama in the town has been quite a struggle for the unit, owing to its remote location. The crew that is based out of Pithoragarh has to travel for hours every day to reach the location. "The travel takes a toll on the team. Plus, the biting cold has made matters worse." However, the insider points out that the locals are extending their support to make the shoot as smooth as possible. "The crew has a constant supply of tea and snacks thanks to the locals. They are supporting the film crew in every way, as they realise that this is going to be the first and last film to be shot here."
