Another first for Asha

Asha Bhosle has sung her first Kannada song. It took composer Veera Samarth more than five months to convince her to do it for the movie Mandahaasa, but she recorded it in just two and a half hours on February 2 at Mumbai's Spectral Harmony studio. Samarth claims he was in tears when she completed the song and is sure it will be a landmark song for Kannada film industry. Raghavendra Kamath wrote the song. Mandahaasa is produced by Basava Reddy and directed by debutante Rajesh Nair.

Asha's achievement comes three decades after her elder sister Lata Mangeshkar sang the memorable Kannada song Bellane Belagayithu for the film Sangolli Rayanna.
