While many celebs are content being a farmer on Farmville, actor Annu Kapoor turns into a real one at his farm in Badlapur. "I am a very hands-on person when it comes to my farm," says Annu. He tells CS more:
Labour of love
I bought the land 14 years ago, and have developed it into a full-fledged farm. This season, I have had a bumper harvest of Alphonso mangoes. I also have vegetable patches growing methi, hybrid palak, turai and gawar.
We also grow wheat, corn and maize. Recently, I built a rainwater harvesting system. It cost me a couple of lakhs, out of which Rs 54,000 came from the government as an incentive.
Flower power
Well, I make sure I supervise every aspect of my farm. Every year, I visit the Krishi Mela in Pune to buy seeds and other farm equipment. Mumbai is a concrete jungle. So, when I had the money and chance to acquire a farm, I jumped at the idea.
The main attraction of my farm is the lawn and flower gardens, which is spread over 5,000 sq ft. It has exotic plants like pink ginger, Alstonia, Lantana and others. There are various varieties of palms like Foxtail, Royal Palm and Champagne Palm. I also have a number of Cypress plants as well as a huge rose garden.
