The actor's out to prove to the industry that Slumdog Millionaire's success hasn't gone to his head; to 'show' where his heart lies

Post the worldwide success of Slumdog Millionaire, Anil Kapoor is the toast of all firangi awards. Even so, the is out to prove that he's still a desi first.

Ever since the West said 'Jai Ho' to Anil, two months ago, sceptics have been targetting him for his sudden interest in the West. It is being said that he has appointed an agent there and is looking for projects abroad.

Tired of accusations that are edging him away from his own country, Anil has decided to hit back at all his detractors with a performance at the Stardust Awards on February 15 at the Bandra-Kurla Complex, Mumbai.

Says a source, "Anil was irritated with people who were saying that he has no interest in Bollywood anymore. Anil is smart and knows the Slumdog fever will die down soon.

And that the Hindi film industry is, after all, his bread and butter. To silence all of them and to prove his love for Bollywood, he came up with an idea to celebrate his silver jubilee in the industry."

25 and counting...

In 2009, Anil completes 25 years in Bollywood. And his song-and-dance act at the Stardust Awards will showcase all his achievements.

"He will be dancing to the tracks of some his most popular numbers from Woh Saat Din to Ram Lakhan and many more.

Anil personally sat with choreographer Rajeev Surti and finalised all his tracks. He even gave his own inputs to add to the performance.

He's very excited about it because he's doing a stage performance after almost seven years," reveals the source.

It's all very hush-hush right now because Anil wants it to be the surprise package of the show.

According to a close friend of the actor, Anil wants to tell the industry that despite being such a huge hit in the West, he's not moving away.

He is getting ready for the release of his home production Shortkut and his next film with Anees Bazmee.

Tapori ishtyle

Rajeev Surti, who's choreo-graphing Anil Kapoor for the show says, "We are starting with the My Name is Lakhan song from Ram Lakhan and ending the medley with Jai Ho the Slumdog Millionaire track.

I am keeping his look rugged and total tapori, which he's famous for.

The dance steps will be simple and have his signature bindaas flavour. And he will definitely perform on all the big hits."
