Amit Sadh and Reema Kagti
Ahead of the release of the period drama, Gold, Amit Sadh is all praise for director Reema Kagti. Asserting that Kagti is someone who will "also tell you how to act", Sadh says, "[When you are working with her] you don't need to do any research. She knows the script thoroughly. She is not only aware about what the lead actor is doing, but also knows what the spot boys have been assigned. She treats everyone equally, and that is why, she is my favourite director."
Slipping into the role of a hockey player in the film, which also features Akshay Kumar, Sadh had reportedly been training with national hockey player and gold medallist Yuvraj Walmiki.
"For seven months, I would play the sport with the best trainers, night and day. It was part of my preparation," reveals the actor, emphatic about how relieved he is to have bagged a chance to be part of the film. "I had auditioned for the role, but didn't get a call for a month. I thought I wouldn't be part of it. Fortunately, I was wrong," he says.
Prior to working with Kumar, Sadh had also shared screen space with Salman Khan in Sultan (2015). As a young actor finding a mentor in his seniors, Sadh says Khan has a unique way of putting his point across. "He will be having a normal conversation with you, and only later do you realise that he has said something meaningful. Whenever I meet him, I am very attentive. He recently told me, 'Things are looking good for you, don't become arrogant. Work hard and behave well.' That has become my mantra."
