It can now be told why the Censor Board asked the makers of Aiyaary to get a no-objection certificate from the Ministry Of Defence (MOD). Neeraj Pandey's directorial venture, set against the Army backdrop, takes on Mumbai's Adarsh housing society scam, which rocked the state and forced the then state chief minister Ashok Chavan to resign in 2010.
The infamous Adarsh housing society was constructed in Colaba for war heroes and war widows. But top Army officials allegedly colluded with politicians and bureaucrats to break rules and allot flats to themselves at below market rates. Manoj Bajpayee, Sidharth Malhotra and Pooja Chopra starrer Aiyaary was screened for Army folk on Saturday, who suggested some modifications. Aiyaary received its censor certification on Tuesday.
