"I would be very happy if the responsibility is given to me. I would accept it whole heartedly because it is a very big step for the country. If we pay attention to cleanliness, at least eight to ten things get right. Like, health improves
with cleanliness," Khan told reporters when asked whether he would like to be the face of the mission.
The Bollywood actor, who has been raising awareness about various social issues with his TV show 'Satyamev Jayate', said, "I feel every Indian will have to take part in it. Other than this, municipalities too have to manage solid and liquid waste. If both things go hand in hand, the good will be achieved."
Aamir Khan was in Delhi for the launch of the event and was invited on the stage by the Prime Minister when he administered a pledge to thousands of people, including schools children and government employees at Rajpath for remaining committed to cleanliness to make the country clean.
"I appeal to the people of the country that what the PM has spoken about is a beautiful thought and we should walk shoulder to shoulder with him so that his dream that we can gift a clean India to Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th birth anniversary turns true," he said.
Asked when was the last time he held a broom, Khan said that he cleans his house and had used the broom last week.
"Also, we prepare manure of the wet waste at our office. Our office is totally waste-free," he said.
