After the exit of Akshay Kumar from the Gulshan Kumar biopic, titled 'Mogul', Aamir Khan came on board as the film's co-producer and got writer-director Subhash Kapoor to re-work on the script. There was immense curiousity amongst viewers to know who would fill in Akshay's shoes to essay, music mogul Gulshan Kumar's biography. Akshay Kumar was supposed to essay the titular character of Gulshan Kumar in the biography.
According to a report in Dna, Aamir Khan has offered the film to Ranbir Kapoor. The actor has earlier played the character of a musician/rockstar in Imtiaz Ali's Rockstar. Bhushan Kumar, head honcho of music label T-series and son of the late music maestro Gulshan Kumar, and Aamir Khan feel that Ranbir Kapoor is the apt choice for Mogul.
Speaking about the same, a source told the publication, "Bhushan feels Ranbir will suit the character. Since he is a good actor and has a good market value as well, the makers felt he was the perfect choice to play Gulshan Kumar. They have even discussed the whole idea with him, but they haven't arrived at a decision yet."
Ranbir Kapoor, who shares a warm relationship with Aamir Khan have had a discussion about Mogul. "Aamir met the Kapoor scion and tried to convince him to do the film," revealed the source.

Well, if Ranbir gives a thumbs up to this film, Mogul would be his second biopic after Sanju.
