The fifth edition of the Jagran Film Festival (JFF) - held in Mumbai for the second time - concluded on Sunday night on a high note. Along with artistes from regional cinema, the weeklong event was decorated by the presence of Bollywood celebrities as well as some international figures. As expected, the fest indulged in a memorable evening that honoured excellence in cinema.

Held at PVR Cinemas in Andheri, the event was emceed by Vinay Pathak. Throughout, he kept the crowd entertained with his jokes and an entertaining fusion of English and Hindi in his anchoring. On the other hand, the winners' list had some surprises. The Best Feature Film went to Rajendra Talak's A Rainy Day while Children of War and Punjab 1984 both bagged the Special Jury Mention Award.

In the acting category, Rajkummar Rao - who arrived quite late - took home the award for Best Actor for his convincing work in Hansal Mehta's biopic Shahid. Kangna Ranaut won the Best Actress Award for her performance in Vikas Bahl's Queen. Sanjay Mishra bagged the trophy for his heartwarming role in Rajat Kapoor's Ankhon Dekhi.
Cypriot filmmaker Ioakim Mylonas and Singaporean film critic Philip Cheah
Shoojit Sircar won the Best Director Award for Madras Cafe while Chandrashekhar Prajapati won the Best Editing Award for the same film. Asha Parekh was honoured with the Icon of Cinema Award, with filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt presenting the award to the legendary actress.
In the Best Director Debut category, the unanimous choice was Sanjeev Gupta for his directorial debut Q. Goutam Ghose flew all the way from Kolkata. The celebrated filmmaker honoured veteran editor Waman Bhosle for his contributions to cinema.
