chandigarh: Several youths are feared dead as a firecracker explosion rocked a religious procession in Punjabu2019s Tarn Taran district on Saturday, police said.
SSP Dhruv Dahiya said eyewitnesses said nearly 15 people may have died in the explosion, which he said was accidental.
Most of those killed in the accident were in the 18- 19 age group.
The high quality of potassium in the crackers resulted in a blast leaving several youths, who were bursting the crackers, dead.
Agencies Building collapse At least eight people are feared trapped as a three- storey building collapsed on the outskirts of the city in Punjab on Saturday. Two persons were rescued. A JCB was digging earth for making a basement of a hotel, when suddenly the building caved in on the Kharar- Landran road in Kharar.
Two mobile towers installed nearby also collapsed and at least eight people are missing.
