Producer-actor Sohum Shah (of the critically-acclaimed film Ship Of Theseus in which he essayed a kidney transplant patient) had to undergo rigorous physical training for his next big screen outing, Tumbad, directed by Rahi Anil Barve.

The film, a dark period thriller, is set in colonial India and has been shot in rural Maharashtra.u00a0

He says, "Cinematographer Pankaj Kumar introduced me to Rahi who had directed the Marathi-Hindi short film Manjha. As I essay the character of a wrestler, I started working on my body. It took me five months to gain the desired weight."

Rahi and his team had to do extensive research before starting the film. "We had to take care of every minor detail while filming the scenes right from the use of cold coins, our get-up and language," says Shah.

The makers have already shown a few portions of the film to the National Film Development Corporation. "Everyone was excited to see the way it has been shot. Sudhir Mishra was shocked to see the rushes. So it is going good," adds Shah.u00a0
