Varun Dhawan's film, 'Main Tera Hero', has enjoyed a good opening at the box office. For one, it has fared better at the box office than the cinematic outings of his 'Student of The Year' co-stars, Alia Bhatt and Siddharth Malhotra.

The first weekend collection of 'Main Tera Hero' is around Rs 21 crore, which is higher than that of 'Highway' (Rs 14 crore) and 'Hasee Toh Phasee' (Rs 17 crore), which released earlier this year.

Trade analyst Komal Nahata says, "'Highway' and 'Hasee Toh Phasee' are quite from different from 'Main Tera Hero'; the latter was expected to do better as it is a pure entertainer."

The film's collection was Rs 5.75 crore on Friday; it soared to Rs 7.5 crore on Saturday and raked in Rs 8 crore on Sunday. Trade analyst Amod Mehra says, "David Dhawan's film has had a good opening despite facing competition from cricket matches. For a medium-budget film, it has had decent collections and Saturday saw a slight increase as well. Despite the finals of the T20 World Cup being held on Sunday, the film did well. The audience have accepted it. The film should register decent collections on weekdays too."

Exhibitor Rajesh Thadani says that 'Main Tera Hero' could've fared even better if there wasn't a cricket match eating into its collections.
