On National Couples Day, we look at some of Bollywood's hottest lovebirds who chose to live in before saying 'I Do' and tying the knot. While some dished out their reasons for doing so, others only defended their case sharing how it worked for them

Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor worked together for the first time in JP Dutta’s LOC Kargil and later in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Omkara. Cupid struck on the sets of YRF’s Tashan and they knew they were made for each other. After four years of dating, they tied the knot on October 16, 2012. But before going ahead and tying the knot, they lived in. 

In an interaction with Humans of Bombay, the actress said, "We'd been dating for a while when he said he’s not 25 and can't keep dropping me home every night. So he told my mom, 'I want to spend the rest of my life with her. We want to live together.' My mom was cool with it. It’s so easy with him. Even when we decided to get married, it felt right.'" 

Saif's sister Soha Ali Khan and Kunal Kemmu also stayed together before tying the knot on January 25, 2015. 

In an interview with PTI, when asked about live-in relationships, the couple said, “We don't endorse live-in relationships for people, but it has worked wonderfully well for both of us before we got married to each other.” 

Rajkummar Rao and Patralekhaa got married after 10 years of togetherness. 

They met each other in 2010 and ever since then, have been going strong and got stronger after getting married. They were also living together. 

Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao may have announced their divorce earlier this year, but they too were madly in love with each other, and before tying the knot, were living in. 

Aamir once said Kiran had a positive influence on him and when they were living together, he became serious in the relationship and for her. 

Anurag Kashyap and Kalki Koechlin met each other during the making of Dev D and became close. 

Before getting married on April 30, 2011, they also were living-in for over two years. The couple announced their divorce in 2013.
