Ace designer Manish Malhotra has taken it upon himself to revive Indian textiles and use them to their optimum. Here are some of his best pieces donned by celebrities.

“Rekha Ji and I have always shared a great passion for Indian Fashion; Having worked with her for so many years now, each time has been an experience in itself,” Manish told Vogue Arabia as he made her wear some of his archival pieces for the cover, featuring a mulmul angarkha with an exorbitant ghera paired with a contemporary vintage gold embroidered short jacket.

When Kriti Sanon accepted her Nationa Film Award for ‘Mimi’ she wore a customized timeless handloom saree exuding heritage sophistication.

In the film 'Murder Mystery 2' Hollywood icon Jennifer Aniston can be seen wearing an ivory Mijwan lehenga.

Thanks to Manish, he brought back handwoven tissue sarees that were rocked by actors throughout 2023.

Manish collaborated with Swadeshi and designed an elegant handloom Kanchipuram sari for Nita Ambani, which she wore at Anant and Radhika's pre-wedding celebrations in Jamnagar.

Natasha Poonawalla rocked an intricate and detailed phulkari ensemble handcrafted for over 3800 hours at a charity event in London. This exquisite outfit not only showcases the rich history of this art form originating from Punjab but also highlights its journey to international recognition.

For her 2024 Cannes Film Festival appearance, one of Aditi Rao Hydari’s looks included this golden ensemble from the Banaras collection.

For Anant and Radhika’s reception, Nita Ambani wore a tissue Banarasi saree draped in traditional Gujarati style, handcrafted with the intricate Kadhwa technique, a tradition that involves hand-weaving each motif individually, taking 70 days to complete by two skilled weavers.

For her Vidai ceremony, Radhika Merchant wore a multi-paneled Banarasi brocade lehenga in sunset hues and an exquisite blouse featuring real gold karchobi work, inspired by the traditional abho and the rich textile heritage of Kutch, Gujarat, echoing the artistry of the late 19th century.

For Anant and Radhika’s wedding, Alia Bhatt wore an archival saree crafted from pure silk and adorned with real zari—99 percent pure silver and about 6 grams of gold. This beautiful Ashavali weave saree, approximately 160 years old, showcases the rich legacy of artistry and beauty, drawing inspiration from the intricate Baluchari sarees of West Bengal.

Kriti Sanon recently wore an archival four-piece ensemble comprising of a Rani pink angarakha kurta adorned with pure zardosi embroidery, paired with an intricate Aboli zari blouse, worn over a handloom Awadhi Izaar pants with a woven tissue dupatta.
