Celebs who promote Indian designs

Kangana Ranaut, who is often seen sporting the most envious sarees, even at the airport, is the torchbearer when it comes to promoting Indian designs. Here she wears a bespoke Banarsi weave.

For Anant and Radhika’s wedding, Alia Bhatt wore an archival saree crafted from pure silk and adorned with real zari—99 percent pure silver and about 6 grams of gold. This beautiful Ashavali weave saree, approximately 160 years old, showcases the rich legacy of artistry and beauty, drawing inspiration from the intricate Baluchari sarees of West Bengal.

At Cannes, Deepika Padukone, who was a jury member, wore a mustard and black sequin-embellished saree by Sabyasachi. The strapless, sweetheart-neck blouse gave it a modern twist, and the intricate embellishments made it suitable for the red carpet.

Sonam Kapoor wore the traditional attire of Ladakh for the Ambani pre-wedding in Jamnagar. Crafted from silk by artisans of Benaras, this ensemble featured intricate phoenix embroidery symbolizing energy and wisdom, with a crane motif representing peace and prosperity.

Dia Mirza, who promotes sustainability like no other, wore a Raw Mango saree for her wedding with Vaibhav Rekhi. She ditched fast fashion and chose something that was a tribute to Indian heritage.

Manisha Koirala is seen wearing a chikankari salwar suit by Ehaab Couture, a brand backed by Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal to promote the artisans of Lucknow.

Kareena Kapoor Khan radiates pure opulence in an ivory hand-embroidered kurta paired with a Chikankari dupatta by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla. The ensemble is highlighted with a glittering touch of sequins, pearls, and stones.

Shilpa Shetty, who is known for her fusion saree looks has always been the go-to muse for ace designer Tarun Tahiliani. Here's the actor in one of his creations.

Nayanthara ditched the bigwigs for a saree from Neela by Anuvardhan. She wore it for the Ambani wedding and exuded royalty in the six-yard crafted in the richness of silver and gold zari, intricately woven into premium Kota fabric.

Sara Ali Khan took an Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla creation overseas and flaunted it at the French Riviera. She looked divine in this look shot at Cannes.

Pooja Hegde transformed into a traditional Mangalorian diva in this yellow saree for a family event.

At her engagement, Sobhita Dhulipala wore a golden blush Uppada silk saree by Manish Malhotra. She opted for a hue inspired by the Kanakaambaram, a traditional temple flower worn by Telugu women, and the eternal Padmam (lotus). The silhouette, derived from the paintings of iconic Telugu artist Bapu, echoed the classic half-saree style of young South Indian women.
