Q: Can you tell us about your role in the film Game Nite and its significance?
A: I served as the production designer for Game Nite, a suspenseful thriller. My role involved shaping the visual concept of the film, which included designing the sets, selecting locations, and coordinating props and costumes. This project, directed by Tonya Pinkins, was a unique challenge that required creating an immersive visual environment to enhance the suspenseful narrative. My work focused on crafting spaces that would heighten the tension and contribute to the overall atmosphere of the film. I collaborated closely with the director and other departments to ensure that every visual element aligned with the story's tone and themes, ultimately helped to bring the thrilling narrative to life on screen.

Q: What was it like to see Game Nite selected for the Pan African Film Festival?
A: It was incredibly rewarding. The Pan African Film Festival has a rich history of celebrating Pan-African cultures and amplifying underrepresented voices in cinema. Knowing that Game Nite received international recognition and aligned with PAFF's mission was a testament to the hard work and creative vision that went into the production.

Q: Adelina has been recognized at multiple film festivals, including
Poppy Jasper International Film Festival 2023: It won the Best Experiment Film award, Thrills and Chills Film Awards 2023:and selections at Beverly Hills 23rd Film Festival and 56th Annual Worldfest - Houston International Film Festival.

Q: How did you approach the production design for Adelina?
A: My approach involved a deep dive into the film's narrative to create a visual style that complemented its themes. I focused on designing immersive sets and selecting props that enhanced the storytelling. This process required extensive research into contemporary thriller aesthetics and careful consideration of color palettes and textures. I worked closely with the cinematographer to ensure that the production design would translate effectively on camera, maximizing the visual impact of each scene.

Q: Epilogue is another short film where you served as the production designer. The film received widespread acclaim and was selected for several prestigious festivals including - Independent Shorts Awards (2023), Flickers' Rhode Island International Film Festival (2023) and Blackbird Film Festival (2024). What impact do you think your production design had in Epilogue's success?
A: I believe the meticulous attention to detail in the sets, props, and overall visual storytelling played a significant role. Each element was designed to enhance the narrative and create an immersive experience for the audience. The film's recognition at these festivals was a wonderful affirmation of the hard work and dedication put into the production design.

Q: What do these achievements mean to you as a production designer?
A: These achievements are incredibly fulfilling. They represent the culmination of creativity, hard work, and collaboration. Being recognized at such esteemed festivals not only validates the effort put into each project but also motivates me to continue pushing the boundaries of production design. It's an honor to contribute to films that resonate with audiences and receive critical acclaim.
