Bharatiya Arogya Nidhi had its humble beginning in the field rendering services to ailing T.B. patients under a T.B. Domiciliary treatment in the North Gujarat and Greater Mumbai. Since then the sapling sown in 1954, in the medical field has blossomed in to a tender plant setting up a hospital in Mumbai in 1974 providing medical facilities to one and all. Bharatiya Arogya Nidhi is set up with a holistic approach towards patient care based on ethics, quality care and professionalism backed by affordable prices. The hospital is focused on providing a human touch, homely environment (being a home away from home) with a classic ambience as well as cutting-edge technology which sets it apart.
A two-storey building was built in 1974 which gradually expanded to a four-storey building with a capacity of 81 beds and housing multiple departments making it a tertiary care set up. In 1985, an ICCU was built followed by an operation theatre in 1987. Moving on BANH was one of the very few hospitals in the city in 1988 to have an in-house artificial kidney dialysis (AKD) unit which started with 2 beds and is today a 13 bedded unit with state of the art Fresenius machines. In 2001, an in house chemist was set up with licensed pharmacists. The ICCU was then shifted to the 4th floor with a total revamp to ultra-modern facilities having 16 fully equipped beds with private cubicles for each patient in 2005. In the same year, a new operation theatre complex was shifted to and built again on the 3rd floor with 4 well equipped ultra-modern operation theatres.
Cardiac OT
In 2011, a cardiac centre was built with a 4 bedded CCU (cardiac care unit), Siemens Artizee Cathlab and a Cardiac Operation Theatre. BANH takes immense pride in being the first hospital in the city to have a Rotablator/ IVUS/ FFR Machine. BANH had a new Pathology department setup in 2015 and is now affiliated to the UK NEQAS and now has an in-house Bio-Fire machine which generates multiple critical reports in less than half an hour.
2016 was a year of dual achievement with the set-up of a new emergency room as well as a chemotherapy department. In 2018, BANH set new standards of supporting the WHO definition of health by starting an in-house Psychiatry department becoming the only hospital in the Western Suburbs to have a licensed and integrated 20 bedded Psychiatry unit with therapists, psychiatrists and social worker providing ECT/ Ketamine and other therapies on Daycare basis. In 2021, BANH was a renowned centre for COVID vaccination which was inaugurated by the famous Sunny Deol and successfully vaccinated thousands of people.
Apart from the above, BANH was awarded the Kayakalp Award by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare in 2020 for best in infection control. BANH got its affiliation to NABH - National Accreditation Board for Hospitals in 2021. In 2023, Bharatiya Arogya Nidhi has successfully completed 46 years of selfless service to humanity in rendering medical treatment and has been awarded for Best Healthcare Services (2023) by Mid-Day.
