Given the rise of consumerism and media in India, the modeling industry has witnessed a significant boom in terms of recognition and career opportunities. Many youngsters are joining or aspiring to join the modeling space in search of a lucrative career. One such individual who has successfully been able to gain traction in the modeling industry is Vishaka Kurup.
Born and brought up in the conservative society of India, Vishaka's journey in the modeling world was far from a cakewalk. In India, modeling still has not obtained the status of a mainstream career option which is why society does not refrain from criticizing an individual who is aspiring to build a career as a model. However, Vishaka is blessed with supportive parents who have never let her spirits down in the face of societal comments and criticisms. Without getting demotivated or starting to lose confidence in herself, she always remained fixed on her goal of becoming a successful model.
Despite her focus in the modeling world, she never compromised with her academic profile and completed her graduation from Pillai's College of Arts Commerce & Science in Bachelor of Mass Media. Vishaka was highly driven by the glamourous world of modeling and launched her modeling career by participating in beauty pageants with the aim to create an attractive modeling portfolio. Recently, she participated in Forever Star India Awards Miss India 2021 and won 2 crowns of Miss Navi Mumbai 2021 & Face of the Year Maharashtra- Miss India. The multitalented Vishaka also holds a certification for Social Service and spends a considerable share of her income in animal welfare.
Talking about her journey as a model, Vishaka shares, "I have faced harsh criticisms for my career choice more than anyone can think about. However, nothing could ever be able to deviate me from my goal of becoming a model. My advice for the budding models will be to never let anyone pull themselves down or get affected by anyone who wants to see you fail. Staying focused on your goal and working towards that goal are the only things that you should ever pay attention to. And, I owe a big thank you to FSIA and mentors who help me build confidence in me and today I feel more confident & happier."
As models need to carry a beautiful appearance, Vishaka puts extra emphasis on self-care, healthy eating habits, and a proper workout routine. She is also using the potential of social media to build a vibrant modeling portfolio. Vishaka believes that hard work always pays so she never fears hard work or avoids learning from new experiences. Besides her modeling career, she is also focused on developing herself as an all-around human being through her social service efforts as, to Vishaka, your soul matters as much as your appearance.
