Social entrepreneur Saayan Kunal has always been ahead of the curve. At 21, he founded PRYS (Patliputra Rashtriya Yuva Sansad) which was a first of it's kind mega event organised in the state of Bihar with a sheer cause, with participants joining in from across the country, clustering it with the diversity which lies in the soul of India. People from all across the country participated as delegates ensuring high standards of debating. To make this a life time experience, the students were exposed to leading statesmen such as Shri Ram Nath Kovind, Shri Nitish Kumar amongst others. Now, just 25 years old, Kunal has written his first book, "DAMAN TAKSHAKON KA" (JIWANI KUNAL KI), which serves as an inspiration and guidebook for youths looking to be honest, brave and righteous in their journey.Although the book is a biography, it talks of different struggles of being an honest officer.

What Inspired me to Write the book?

Saayan Kunal says that he preferred to write this book because he was always motivated by his father's stories that he had often heard while growing up. Since Acharya Kishore Kunal voluntarily retired in 2001, Saayan could barely see his father as a daunting officer. However, the tales of his bravery and strength that he heard, inspired him to dig deeper into his father's experiences. It was only during the lockdown that the father-son duo found the time and it was only then when Saayan decided to write this book. Saayan believes that these stories are not just mere words but life experiences worth sharing. He wishes to inspire the generations to come to be honest, brave and righteous. He believes that by talking about his father, he can spread values that are essential in present times.

Starting Out as an Author

As a budding author, I did not realise what it meant to be an author. I thought that all you had to do was write your book and self-publish it. As soon as my book was up on Amazon, I was expecting people to read my work and get inspired with the real life experiences of an officer who has always been honest, brave and righteous towards the duties he has discharged! But the truth is that authors spend a lot of time promoting their books because no one buys them unless you promote them. Also, remember that just because you write something does not mean people will buy it or read it. But in the case of "DAMAN TAKSHAKON KA" (JIWANI KUNAL KI) people loved it, especially the youth. They were too inspired with it and various other eminent personalities too appreciated how i penned down the story into a Biography.

Emergence of Saayan as a Social Entrepreneur.

Saayan always aimed high when it came to career and success in his life. When asked about his journey, Saayan Kunal told us that he has a B-school degree. However, it did not appeal him because he saw many people around himself doing pretty well in their lives and making money. He also added that he felt that the entrepreneurs did not get enough attention back then. So after completing his Degree in Amity University, Saayan Kunal started working with Amawan Mandir in Ayodhya, Gyan Niketan group of Institutes and many other organizations.

Challenges faced and learnings

"I cannot call myself a Social Entrepreneur, I am still not there, Far from perfect." Said Kunal. He aims to develop a model for competitive and complete education and sustainable employment through various programs. Saayan Kunal said that Gyan Niketan is here to accomplish that goal. The battle was never easy but always a tough one from very first day. There are so many workers and educators on board and it has been an incredible experience. We always knew it will never be easy because what we dream of is never easy to achieve but with hard work it is extremely rewarding.
