Nurture the screenwriter in you through this 5-day annual screenwriting workshop hosted by whistling woods international


With opportunities galore in cinema, TV, short films and web series, there has never been a better time to become a screenwriter! To ensure success in different visual media and to effectively bring out your story, you need a strong prowess in writing for the screen.

To inspire aspiring writers, starting today, Whistling Woods International (WWI) will be hosting its 5-day Annual Screenwriting Workshop by Anjum Rajabali in association with Screenwriters Association (SWA). The hybrid workshop will guide new writers in the craft of screenwriting and help experienced writers hone their storytelling skills.

The workshop will be led by veteran screenwriter and Head of Department (HOD) for Screenwriting at WWI, Anjum Rajabali. He is the name behind screenplay for films such as Ghulam (1998), The Legend of Bhagat Singh (2002) and Rajneeti (2010). The workshop series will also witness guest sessions by some of the celebrated writers in the industry.

Over the course of the 35-hour workshop, you will learn about interesting possibilities in screenwriting, character psychology, the navrasa, mythology, the Hero's journey and discuss relevant topics with the best and brightest from the Indian cinema.

Below are some of the notable guest speakers lined up for workshop participants:

  1. Juhi Chaturvedi: Multi-award-winning Indian screenwriter and advertising professional based in Mumbai. Chaturvedi has written scripts for Bollywood films Vicky Donor, Piku, October and Gulabo Sitabo.

  1. Sandeep Shrivastava: Senior screenwriter, lyricist, and actor, widely known for writing the globally acclaimed film New York directed by Kabir Khan and starring John Abraham, Irrfan Khan, and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles. He has also written dialogues for movies like Ab Tak Chhappan, Kabul Express, and Sachin, and has written lyrics for movies like Life in a Metro, Vishwapooram 2, and Kahaani.

  1. Raj Nidimoru: Raj Nidimoru, is part of the popular the writer-director-producer duo, Raj & DK, who are known for their unique and original content. Pioneering in mixing genres masterfully and trailblazers of fresh, quirky humour in Indian cinema, their latest offering is the espionage drama series, The Family Man. Their debut feature, Flavors (2003), won rave reviews. Their other offerings are 99, Shor In The City, Go Goa Gone, and horror comedy, Stree.

  1. Sudip Sharma: Indian screenwriter known for his work across series and films including Paatal Lok, Sonchiriya, Udta Punjab and NH10.

  1. Aniruddha Guha: Indian screenwriter, podcaster, host, former journalist and film critic who contributed to leading publications like DNA, The Hindu, Firstpost and Mumbai Mirror. His screenwriting credits include P.O.W. - Bandi Yuddh Ke, Malangand Rashmi Rocket
