Momin Khan
Over the years, music has evolved, and so is the audience's taste. In a time when modern music has been topping the charts, the essence of Indian classical music has been missing. India is a treasure of classical and folk instruments that have been played for ages. But with the advancement in instruments, the old is becoming obsolete. Bringing the timeless classics back to life, Momin Khan is one of the versatile music artists. He has been dedicatedly playing the sarangi and is a part of singer Arijit Singh's band.
The talented artist played the sarangi for many South films and even for Salman Khan's 2019 film âDabangg 3'. His latest work as a sarangi artist is for Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Alia Bhatt's âGangubai Kathiawadi'. It is a known fact that SLB's films are magnum opus with grandeur sets and music highlighting the rich heritage of the Indian culture. And even for his latest directorial, the filmmaker has used vintage instruments for the songs. Momin Khan has been an ardent fan of Bhansali's films and music.

Much before bagging this biggie, Momin Khan Sarangi had a fair share of struggles in the city of dreams, Mumbai. Reminiscing the memories about how he got to work for 'Gangubai Kathiawadi', the sarangi artist said, "It was my third day of rehearsals in Arijit sir's band when I got a call to play the sarangi for a song. The song recording turned out to be excellent after which I realised that it was for Sanjay sir's film. I was happy and felt accomplished to have contributed my best for the director I always admired."
And when the film is finally in theatres taking the box office on fire, Momin Khan Sarangi is elated to be a part of Shreya Ghoshal's musical melody âJab Saiyaan'. "This is my first song with Shreya Ghoshal, and she has sung it so beautifully. I am glad that instruments like sarangi still define the true meaning of Indian music", added Momin. Crediting his success to his father, Padma Shree Ustad Moinuddin Khan Sahab, the young artist has truly mastered the art of music at a very young age.
Interestingly, Momin Khan Sarangi was just 20 when he played a sarangi artist for âJab Saiyaan' song from the film. While âGangubai Kathiawadi' was slated to release in 2020, it got pushed numerous times because of the unfortunate COVID-19 crisis. The film finally had its theatrical release on February 25, 2022, and is being loved by the audience and critics. On the work front, Momin Khan has got various other projects for Bollywood films and other regional films.
