In the 2021 session, NTA allowed four attempts for JEE Main aspirants. This decision was taken because of the rising COVID-19 cases. Before that, there were only two attempts for JEE Main. According to the experts, the candidates can expect the same changes to be continued this year as well.
NTA has not released any official guidelines for the conduct of JEE Main 2022. Meanwhile, the director-general of NTA, Vineet Joshi, informed that the number of JEE Main Attempts will depend upon the date of conclusion of the board exams for Class 12th students.
Some boards have also announced that in case the situation of COVID-19 worsens, they would not be conducting the second term exams. In the previous session too, some of the entrance exams were delayed because of COVID-19. It is possible that the authorities might reduce the number of attempts back to two to commence the new session timely. However, this will entirely depend on the pandemic situation in the country.
Various central and state boards reduced the Class 12th syllabus by 30% in the previous session. However, in JEE Main Syllabus, NTA introduced no changes; instead the students were given internal choices in JEE Main Question Paper. This year too, the curriculum is working under the same reduced syllabus. Hence, it is likely that JEE Main 2022 Exam Pattern will be more along the lines of the previous year.
In JEE Main 2021, the candidates were given 30 questions each in physics, chemistry, and mathematics. Generally, there are only 25 questions. This gave the aspirants a certain edge over the past year's candidates. Check JEE Main Previous Year Question Papers
The Ministry of Board Education relaxed the board exam criterion ever since the onset of the pandemic. Given the recent relaxation, candidates can seek admissions to their desired institute only based on their entrance exam scores. However, before the decisions, the candidates needed to obtain decent marks in their 12th standard. For instance, for admission to IITs, one needs to have 75 percent marks, at least along with JEE Advanced score to be selected. Since nothing has changed since then, the relaxation of board marks will continue to be followed.
Everything is uncertain regarding JEE Main as of now. The experts are still discussing and speculating the dates, the number of attempts, and relaxations in the syllabus for JEE Main.
