Musarrat Masters work is an exploration and celebration of nature, specifically horses and the female form. Her canvases exude energy and imagination, teem with colour and movement.
She draws on her thorough understanding of the subjects to create compositions that command attention and engage the viewer. Her maturity as an artist is evident in her handling of the subjects, she isn't simply drawing the forms, but using brush strokes and colour to portray movement, fluidity, gracefulness and strength.
Musarrat's style of painting oils on large format canvases is unique. It has evolved from being more representative in the early part of her career into semi-abstract forms. While at first glance her work is vaguely abstract, as the eye follows the powerful strokes distinct forms begin to emerge. The layered strokes slowly morph into the figures of horses heads or female bodies. Her paintings are easily understood and appreciated by anyone who encounters them.
Her more recent works have evolved into abstracted compositions of dancing figures moving fluidly across the canvas. The figures depict the grace of the female form which, combined with the movement and rhythm of dance, present dynamic compositions. Multiple intertwined limbs aim to capture the smooth and controlled balletic movement on the canvas.
