Few decades after the independence, not everything was going well with the country. India was still batting social evils like poverty, child labor and illiteracy. Things finally started to take a turn after NGOs came into limelight. The rise of non-governmental organizations or NGOs brought major changes in the field of social service. People who wanted to help could now reach out to the needy. But like everything in the system, the effectiveness of NGOs started getting affected by corruption and mismanagement.

But still, there is a fairly good number of non-governmental organizations that are working hard and committed to make a change. One of such associations is Karman Foundation. Karman is a non-profit organization which is sheerly dedicated to making lives better for the underprivileged sections of the society.

Karman Foundation was started by Namrata Tripathi in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. "The fact that all of our members come from humble backgrounds is what makes us different from others. You cannot fight social issues like poverty and illiteracy effectively if you have never had similar experiences", says Namrata.

The society works through a network of volunteers who keep a check on needy people around the area. Although, the association focuses on all sections of the society but children and elderly people are the age groups they specifically look out for.

Daily relief such as distribution of food, clothes and other goods is provided by regular visits in the locality. Apart from this, the members also take out time from their hectic schedule to provide education to the children who could not get to chance to go to school. The society is also aimed to provide aid in times of natural or man-made calamities.

The organization is rapidly growing and achieving its targets like never before. Although, it does not take donations, but one can be a part of their volunteering team to assist them in their noble work.
