Kurtis Green was inspired by the pet sites of the 2000s to create his own NFT gaming project known as Greancy World. Kurtis shared some of his own insights in how to be successful in the crypto world today, as well as what it's like to create your own virtual metaverse.
When it comes to the crypto market, Kurtis has had his own ups and downs. First becoming interested in the community in 2013, about five years later he experienced his own rough season of returns with cryptocurrency, but this did not stop him from learning and growing his own knowledge within the community. If anything, a setback motivated Kurtis to revisit the crypto community with more knowledge, and ideate what exactly the NFT space could do for him in the future, when he had more say. Fast-forward to 2021, and Greancy World was born.
Greancy World is no simple pet project, either. After a year of planning and storyboarding for an extensive metaverse layout, Greancy World is finally coming to life in real time by a team of 12 with a projected launch around July 2022. Kurtis shared that there will be 4 separate, never-before-seen universes within the metaverse that each have its own artist dedicated to ensure details and intricacy. Kurtis reflected on how the layers to the NeoPet community itself was a huge inspiration to the features of Greancy World. However, where many gaming platforms will often rip-off or even copy successful ideas like that of NeoPets, Kurtis shared that Greancy World is based off of entirely original characters and a concept never-before-seen in the NFT world.
When it comes to success in the financial climate, oftentimes it takes building off of an already successful idea and understanding how to forecast improvements before they are even needed. Kurtis reflected on how the crossover of building a team that had knowledge of NFTs and world-building skills was critical to ensuring Greancy World's sustained success. Kurtis shared that NeoPets even fell short of their own success when their own NFT launch was not nearly as successful as anticipated. Kurtis stated that despite their community-oriented history, it seems NeoPets had lost their ways and did not know enough about the community they were selling to in order to properly prepare for the market. On the other hand, Kurtis and his team brings years of real-world NFT experience combined with years of creativity and the love of the game to create an entirely new playing experience.
When it comes to playing games, there is a whole community of people who are ready to jump on this unique opportunity. Kurtis shared that they received over $250,000 in small source funding with zero help from venture capitalists - a feat indeed when creating a metaverse on your own as a small business. However, the community demand in the NFT space for something like Greancy World was undeniable to Kurtis and he could not miss the opportunity. Thankfully, he did not miss and players will get the chance to experience Greancy World in just over six months time.
