What all hindrances did you have to face during the brand's inception? How did the pandemic impact your business?
This culinary behemoth was founded on 18th March 2018, with a capital of 1.4 lakhs from a 1 RK flat, and has since grown to six locations. But, as the saying goes, it takes more than a great idea to run a successful business. We, as its founders, had to overcome numerous obstacles, the most significant of which was the outbreak of the pandemic and the subsequent lockdown. Coming to the next part of the question, we would say that, like many other food enterprises, we faced a major crisis during the government-imposed shutdown and were on the verge of bankruptcy until we liquidated personal items such as automobiles and televisions to keep the company alive. And today, by God's grace, we have accomplished a major milestone of success in our realm.
Can you please give a brief about the entire food delivery industry? Also, tell us about the company's valuation in the present scenario?
We would say that in 2020, the global market for online food delivery is expected to be worth $113 billion. This market was estimated to be worth $4.46 billion in India by 2020, and it has been one of the fastest-growing areas in the country, garnering a lot of investment. With a CAGR of 28.95 percent, the segment will reach $21.31 billion by 2026. If we talk about our brand biryani b box, we have raised two crores: one crore is equity funding and one crore as debt from the Navalakha Properties at undiacloswd valuation.
What is the major USP of the brand and some of the specialties that make you one of a kind?
The most popular meal in the country is biryani, but there aren't many good brands. We have had a clear objective: to serve our clients with 100 percent fresh Handi Biryani produced using authentic recipes at a reasonable price. This funding will enable us to accelerate our progress while maintaining our commitment to quality, freshness, and customer satisfaction. Our goal is to develop a quality Biryani chain in India and popularise the Biryani category. Unlike other lavishly funded businesses in the organized biryani industry, Biryani B Box operates with the philosophy of authentic taste and economic costs.
Tell us about the plans that the company intends to achieve and put forth in near future?
We are planning to use the capital to increase our footprint in Pune and Mumbai, and intend to expand to ten new cities for which we are looking for Cloud kitchen partners. As a brand, we want to have our associate partners make money by serving delicious food. Keeping all the factors in mind, we have launched two brands - biryani b box, b box wraps, and very soon, we will be even launching B Box meal @69.
