3) What challenges have you faced in promoting sustainable living through the villa development projects and how have you overcome them?
When we set out to incorporate sustainability in our development, we realized that local contractors and vendors had limited understanding on the subject. So our team diligently scouted for vendors from various parts of the country who specialized in the materials and finished which were required. We hired Delhi based consultants to help us in this journey of sustainability and to adhere to the norms of GRIHA. We hired a large PMC to oversee the process and sensitize all stakeholders to use only approved sustainable building materials. It was a surprise for the vendors to see the investments we were doing in a 10 villa project whereas they had only seen very large developments like hotels investing in equipment and techniques
There were delays, cost over runs as the whole process was new to the local construction agencies and our strict due diligence ensured every milestone was checked and vetted by experts. But at the end of the day, we are extremely proud of what we have been able to achieve and prove to the naysayers that conscious luxury can be built in boutique projects too.
4) In what ways do you collaborate with local communities and organisations to foster sustainable development and create a positive impact?
In our pursuit of sustainable development and creating a positive impact, we at Aranayam place great emphasis on collaboration with local communities and organizations. We actively engage with the local communities to promote environmental awareness, support local businesses, and offer employment opportunities. Our partnerships with local organizations involve active participation in conservation initiatives, waste management, reforestation projects along with the adoption of sustainable construction practices. By working closely with these local stakeholders, we not only enhance the well-being of the community but also ensure that our projects leave a meaningful and lasting, positive imprint on the environment and the people who call Goa their home. Our commitment to sustainable development goes hand-in-hand with our dedication to uplifting the community and safeguarding the natural beauty of the region.
