The New York based actor who is also an aspiring singer shares how he landed the role in this film directed by Eshwar Gunturu. He says, "I play the role of Anwar Ali in the film which was actually written as a 50-year-old character. The director, Eshwar Gunturu asked me if I would like to try out for this part even though I am not 50 because he was unable to zero in on an actor in that age bracket. When I went for the script reading session, everyone was a bit surprised. But once the reading was done, I was told that people didn't expect me to read the role the way I did and were impressed. I was on board immediately."
While Code Name Abdul happened on a lark, the actor's passion for acting and cinema dates back to his childhood. Anshomaann adds, "My father was closely associated with theatre and growing up, performing in street plays were an integral part of my life. I am a Mechanical Engineer by profession because even though I wanted to join the National School of Drama, my parents were keen that I take up a more lucrative course. As a result of this I pursue acting as a passion."
