The founder, who holds nearly two decades of work experience as a Project Financer in African Countries is an electrical engineer and holds EPGP from IIM Bangalore and has been a Khichdi lover. He went beyond making Khichdi packets and owned his Khichdi cafes to offer people a wholesome one-pot meal, cooking and delivering different Khichdi varieties.
Kamlesh Khichdiwala aims to have a presence beyond India to promote healthy eating by choosing Khichdi from the brand that is ready to cook in 7 minutes. They currently own two Khichdi cafes in Mumbai, under the brand Kamlesh Khichdiwala, where they use their own manufactured Khichdi packets in making these delicious Khichdi meals. They aim to promote Khichdi in India and globally through retail and by giving franchises to promote khichdi at low investments, which later gives higher profits and acts as a successful business model.
Kamlesh Khichdiwala comes to the rescue of all those health-conscious people who choose a healthier lifestyle over everything else. People's choices changed, especially after the pandemic, and so did their food choices, where they focused more on remaining fitter by the day. Hence, Kamlesh Khichdiwala has become their go-to option for healthier and more convenient eating with 51 Khichdi varieties. There is a huge market potential outside India, so they are also looking to export to global markets.
Kamlesh Samaliya recalls that he was a part of the World Food Forum, Delhi, in 2017, hosted by Sanjeev Kapoor, where Khichdi remained a much-talked-about topic. This ignited the fire in him to start his Khichdi cafes. Today, his 7-minute ready-to-cook packets have become an ultimate favorite of many, thanks to it being an organic option with no preservatives, colors or additives. Their masala shelf-life also goes up to 9 months. The Khichdi packet contains rice, chilka dal, and masala with ghee granules.
The pandemic did act as a roadblock in their journey, but they restarted everything in January 2023 with the idea of ready-to-cook Khichdi packets. They hope to reach 500 outlets globally by December 2024.
