"Some astrologers, including one considered Yeddyurappa's family astrologer, have said nobody can prevent madam from becoming chief minister," said a source close to Shobha Karandlaje, now minister for rural development and panchayat raj. "And madam respects them."
Jittery
But the prediction is making Yeddyurappa, her special friend, jittery. He hopes to complete his full term of five years.
The BJP government is planning a 100th day bash tomorrow. "As it is the stability of the government is in question," said the source. "Now this prediction has further shaken Yeddyurappa."
BJP workers believe Shobha has changed her style of functioning after hearing the prediction. She is working hard, and is trying to build a clean image.
"But this has created a rift between her and Yeddyurappa," said the source. "When people close to him cut deals, Shobha opposes them."
She reportedly objected to Yeddyurappa's family meddling in officials' transfer. That has made her unpopular with them.
She did not accompany the chief minsiter to the recent Kannada convention in Chicago. A disappointed Yeddyuarppa left for the US along with his other cabinet colleagues.
After his return, friends tried to get them to make up, but their efforts did not yield fruits, said the source.
Shobha told MiD DAY, "Astrologers can say anything, but everything depends on one's destiny. If God wills it, anyone can become chief minister. But I wish Yeddyurappa continues in office for ten years."
