Delhi: DELHI Metro profit is touching around a Rs 1 crore a day as the passenger base crosses the eight lakh mark.
Delhi Metro has decided to expand the number of coaches to six. Currently, the Metro trains has four coaches.
Delhi Metro spokesman Anuj Dayal said that number of coaches would be raised from four to six on the lines where passenger rush is more.
"We have ordered for 131 more trains to cater to the additional traffic and additional coaches would be provided on those stretches which are very crowded.
The trains are currently being manufactured and will be pressed into service next year when they are ready," said Dayal.
"The earning of the Delhi Metro from passenger revenue is around Rs 90 lakhs per day on Monday and Tuesday," he added.
Approximately eight lakh commuters travelled by Metro on these two days.
