Delhi Power Minister AK Walia asks the DISCOMS to ensure there is no gap in demand and supply of power, no load-shedding |
Delhi Power Minister A K Walia in a meeting directed the DISCOMS to ensure power arrangements till December. The senior officials including power secretary Rajendra Kumar and CEOs of the three DISCOMS attended the meeting.
The BJP sees it as a move to score a political point in an election year.
The power companies have also been told to make headway in fulfilling requirements of the unauthorised colonies, which will soon be regularized. "The companies will be submitting the report related to power requirement in such colonies by the next week," a senior government official said.
"The government will generate fund worth Rs 225 crore per annum to meet subsidy on restricting monthly consumption up to 150/200 units during non-peak and peak months," the minister said.
It was reported that 14.50 lakh out of 32 lakh consumers availed subsidised electricity on consumption up to 200 units per month during May, June and July. And demand of power during July had gone up by 1.14% in comparison to the last year.
Walia stated that after March 2008 the DISCOMs have not given due attention on system upgradation, which is one of the major causes of breakdowns. He also instructed to intensify campaign for promotion of CFL Bulbs.
