Call centre cabbies flout cautionary norms

Delhi: Despite the call centre cabbies being warned of 'over speeding and negligent driving', they routinely flout the cautionary norms.

On Monday night a call center cab hit a Tata Indica car and injuring the driver at Noida-Delhi DND flyway.

A speeding call centre cab (DL1VB 5763) carrying staff of HCL hit a Tata Indica (DL1 YA 3764) car from behind at 11.30 pm on DND flyaway. "Fortunately, no one was sitting on the back seat of the Indica car. The call centre cab Innova rammed into the indica, badly damaging the back seat," a security staff posted at DND said.

"It is unfortunate that even the employees riding on these cabs never raise voices to check the speed. The driver won't over speed if the passengers oppose it," said an eyewitness, who was on the wheel and witnessed the accident.

In the past few years, call centre cabs in the region have been involved in numerous road accidents in which many employees and passersby have lost their lives.

"If speed governors were installed in these cabs, such accidents could be prevented. The speed of the cab at the time of accident was not less than 70 kmph. The laxity of police to implement the guidelines is a now serious issue," he added.

"The Innova car had several dent before the accident. It is certain that it has made several accidents in the past and the driver was not ready to discipline himself," another eyewitness said.
