Cow attacks bikers
By: Amit Kumar

Delhi: The stray cattle menace on the Capital streets has not over yet. On Sunday evening, a stray cow injured several bikers, scooterists and cyclists at Adarsh Nagar in Delhi.

"When I reached near Rajan Babu Road at around 9 pm, the road was blocked as a cow attacked the bikers on the road," said Roshan Kanshal, an eyewitness.

The cow attacked couple of bikers and cyclists injuring them. Seeing the uncontrollable menace, the residents of the area called the police and the officials of animal husbandry department of MCD for assistance.

The police blocked the traffic for more than two hours. "The MCD did not responded on time. They reached on the spot after one and half-hour from the time when the first call was made," Rajesh Kumar, a resident, said.

"Fortunately, some residents along with the police, came forward and blocked the road," Kumar said.

"The cow was suffering from pain as it was already hurt somewhere. It had injury marks on its mouth and leg. The MCD caught it at about 10.30 pm," he said.

Earlier, the MCD has assured that the drive to round off the cattle will be completed by August. Interestingly, even as the last date to get rid of stray cattle in the Capital is drawing near, the civic body has not made much progress.
