The traffic on the arterial Sion-Trombay Road in Mumbai was affected on Monday evening after a truck carrying LPG cylinders caught fire inconveniencing thousands of commuters travelling to Navi Mumbai

The traffic on the arterial Sion-Trombay Road in Mumbai was affected on Monday evening after a truck carrying LPG cylinders caught fire inconveniencing thousands of commuters travelling to Navi Mumbai.


The driver's presence of mind and the fire brigade officials prevented a major catastrophe from taking place at Everard Nagar, the scene of the accident. The fire was doused after an hour's effort by the fire brigade officials.


A fire brigade official said, “We got a call in the evening at around 8-8.30 pm that the driver's cabin of the truck that was carrying LPG cylinders had caught fire after which our team reached the spot and managed to douse the fire. A big accident has been avoided.”


The traffic towards Trombay and Navi Mumbai was badly affected on this stretch for about an hour. According to traffic police official, the traffic was back to normal after an hour.
