The film is slated to hit screens this Friday. Writers William Darlymple, Aman Nath, theatre actor Bubbles Sabharwal and golfer Nonita Lall Qureshi are slated to attend the fun-raiser. Mira says, "Queen of Katwe, in many ways, is similar to Salaam Bombay, my first feature film that led to the birth of the Salaam Balak Trust.
Salaam Bombay honoured the kids from the streets and we were determined at that time to bring childhood to many other kids like the ones in my film. For the last 27 years, the trust has been flourishing. It is a moving moment for me to bring a similar story; an inspiring story of Phiona Mutesi from my adopted home of Uganda — Queen of Katwe."
