Raashee's teaser

Ashutosh Gowariker has just wrapped up a schedule of the Priyanka Chopra-Hurman Baweja What's Your Raashee? The romantic comedy is about the fun of hunting for a groom. Producer Sunita Gowariker who's helping hubby says, "We are following the same format as Jodhaa Akbar where we unveiled a teaser poster first. WYR's first poster, like a book cover, gives a feel of the film." Nabeel Abbas of Epigram has designed the poster.

Marathon is 42 Kms

Remember Nisha Chainani's long completed film Marathon about a bunch preparing for Mumbai's big run? The film now gets a fresh lease of life with Eastern Union Entertainment as producer. Retitled 42 Kms, it is slated to release this month. The cast includes Mandira Bedi, Samir Dattani, Purab Kolhi, Bikram Saluja, Prashant Chainani, Nausheen Ali Sardar and Nauheed Cyrusi. Hopefully, this time it will release in time for the Mumbai marathon.

Goa getaway

Several stars skipped Goa due to security concerns but not lovebirds Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor. They headed to the land of feni and fun to usher in 2009. The couple flew in to soak in the beach, sea and the sun. Guess some people would not miss Goa for anything in the world this New Year.

Lara Dutta along with Dino Morea at the MAC store in Juhu on Tuesday evening picking up a lot of stuff. In fact, Lara was consulting her beau before choosing the make-up. Perhaps, Lara was doing some last-minute shopping for the New Year bash?

Kaam se aaram nahi

While Kareena Kapoor and beau Saif Ali Khan are holidaying in the Alps, her ex-boyfriend Shahid Kapur slogged on New Year's Eve. The actor's best friend Shriram had come down from Bangalore to spend time with him but the committed actor brought in 2009 shooting for a new endorsement (apart from the luggage brand he has already shot for). Raking in the moolah on New Year's Day is great but all work and no play makes you-know-what... a dull guy!

Party-hearty

Vipul and Shefali Shah bought in the New Year at a bash organised by his old-time buddies Aatish Kapadia and J D Majethia at Charkop. The TV duo also had the cast and crew of their shows Baa Bahoo aur Baby, Shree and Jasuben Jayantilal in attendance.

Family time

Vidya Balan and Sonali Bendre celebrated their birthdays on New Year's day. While Vidya took off with her family to Panchgani; for Sonali, it was a quiet celebration. Balan has been shoooting in Panchgani for Vishal Bhardwaj's Ishquiyan and has fallen in love with Panchgani's beauty. So she whisked her parents and sister off to the hill station. Sonali, who is one of the judges on Indian Idol 4, says, "In light of what has been happening, I was not in the mood for any celebration. I didn't go for any party. My sister is in town with her children so it's a family reunion time for me."
