The revamped version of Kala Chashma, originally sung by Punjabi pop star Amar Arshi 12 years ago, in Sidharth Malhotra, Katrina Kaif-starrer Baar Baar Dekho (2016) not just topped music charts last year, but also continues to be on the playlists of DJs and Bollywood music lovers. While Badshah was lauded for the revisited track, the original version remains a favourite.

As comparisons between the two versions continue to be drawn each time the track plays, fans of both versions will be able to enjoy a fresh rendition in the upcoming episode of MTV Unplugged. Badshah, who made his maiden appearance on the show, was accompanied by Arshi for an unplugged rendition of Kala Chashma, with singer Neha Kakkar also lending her voice to the act.

Sharing his experience of recording with the celebrated Punjabi artiste, Badshah tells mid-day, "It was a pleasure to perform with Arshi sir. He is a legend. I doubt viewers can ever imagine an unplugged version of Kala Chashma. This will be a good surprise for lovers of the song." The rapper enjoyed the jugalbandi with Arshi, adding that they have "tried to keep everything as raw as possible."
